Ingredients

  • Besan (Gram Flour) - 200 g
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder- 1&1/2 tsp
  • Garlic ginger paste- 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • 3-4 Onions chopped in ring shape
  • Vegetable oil in appropriate quantity for deep frying

Method

Step 1

Take 200g of Gram Flour (Besan) in a big bowl. Take sufficient sized bowl based on quantity of rings (bhajis) you are planning to make; as we'll be preparing batter in it.

Step 2

Add 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1&1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, and 1 tsp salt in the Gram Flour (Besan). You can change quantity according to your taste if you already know how to make bhajis.

Step 3

Add small amount of water and mix it well. We are about to make batter. Make sure you add water in small amounts so that too much water won't ruin your batter. Keep repeating the process till you get nice batter. If batter is too thick, add small amount of water.

Step 4

Add cooking oil in a kadai or pan for deep fry and let it heat first for at least 3 minutes. Keep the flame as low as possible during preheat.

Step 5

Mix the onion rings in batter. Make sure the rings are fully covered by batter from all sides.

Step 6

Now, put these batter covered rings in hot oil. Keep them frying till they start turning golden brown. Once they turn golden brown in color, take them out from the pan/kadai.

Step 7

Voila! Your onion rings bajji are ready. They are very tasty and can be eaten directly. They taste good with green chili or mayonnaise (if you don't like spicy food).

Tips:

  • The rings batter needs no egg, so don’t add one. it may ruin the taste.
  • Don’t drop ring in pan from height as it can splash hot oil on your hands. Instead, gently put it in the pan.
  • Once you remove ready rings from kadai (frying pan), you can put them on paper towel or wire rack so that excess oil gets soaked.
  • Let stove be on medium flame throughout the frying process except preheating.
